Memorandum to the Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, on implementing the Food Safety and Standards (safe food and balanced diets for school children) Regulations, 2020.
The memorandum responds to the FDA's letter of 28/07/2026. Safe, nutritious and balanced food for school children is everyone's first duty, and the organisation welcomes the regulations.
However, schools and teachers only cook and serve the meals; grain, oil, salt and rice are supplied by contractors. The demand is that teachers not be held responsible for poor-quality supplies, that the suppliers be inspected, and that schools be assured of good-quality material.
