Under the Regional Directorate of Education's letter of 13 August 2026, schools have been given many PM-POSHAN duties, such as safe and nutritious meals, licence registration, hygiene and appointing a nodal officer.
With an already heavy administrative load, teachers are finding it hard to focus on teaching. The demand is to separate school nutrition completely from schools and teachers and run it through another agency. It also notes that grain, oil and rice are supplied by contractors, so the government should check their quality.
